Lip fillers restore volume and are used to correct wrinkles and soft tissue loss due to aging. They are injected into the superficial layers of the skin and are most commonly used in the smile lines, lips and corners of the mouth.
Restylane® is our most commonly used dermal filler and has an excellent safety profile. It’s a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to visibly correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle to plump the skin and smooth away wrinkles and folds such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth or into your lips Restylane and Restylane-L generally last 4 – 9 months, depending on the area that is injected and then gradually is metabolized by the body.
The most common side effects include bruising, redness, swelling pain, tenderness, and itching. Most of these symptoms resolve within one week.
Restylane-L has all the benefits of Restylane but with the added bonus of lidocaine to help reduce discomfort for patients.
Restylane Silk is a filler used to give your lips a more youthful look and will increase the fullness and volume of your lips while simultaneously eliminating the fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth. Restylane Silk was designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in the lips and the lines around the mouth by using smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than those used in other Restylane products. Restylane Silk also contains lidocaine to reduce pain during injection and will last between 6-9 months.
Common side effects include swelling (other than the desired lip augmentation), tenderness, redness, bruising, itching and pain. The majority of these symptoms resolve within one week.
